Resumen
The objective of this research study is to assess the difficulty level student face when writing research projects. The methodology is a quantitative with a prospective observational cross-sectional design. Both simple random probabilistic sampling and a questionnaire composed of 32 items are applied to survey 228 students: 82 from administration, 40 from accounting, 49 from law, and 57 from civil engineering. The results show that students have a medium level of difficulty when writing a research project. Law students (51.02%) experience the greatest difficulties when writing the problem statement, the theoretical framework, and the methodological design. In conclusion, it is suggested that universities include courses on research in their academic programs in each semester, as well as extracurricular activities such as training programs, academic writing workshops, and summer research courses.
