Resumen
With the constant growth in demand for building materials, traditional methodologies in the processes of distribution companies do not meet the customer's needs in terms of time. The following study case uses the principles of Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and simulations in FlexSim, both visual tools allow to show the flow of information and material identifying the bottleneck in a construction materials distribution company. The Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodology was also applied to manage the company's limitations to achieve its objectives, generating a continuous improvement. The results show that the constraint is in the process of dispatching and delivering orders, which is why the purchase of two portable stackers is suggested, which will increase the number of weekly orders from 22 to 29. With the integration of the VSM, the simulation and the application of the TOC, a 16.67%-time reduction of the constraint (dispatch and delivery) was achieved.
