Perceptions and limitations of the flipped classroom in the context of higher technical education: a study with students and teachers of a Peruvian technical institute

Resumen

This study evaluates the factors that affect university student satisfaction with the Inverted Classroom learning model, its potentialities and limitations. The research was conducted at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior del Perú with a case study that combines quantitative and qualitative aspects. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 12 teachers of basic training courses and a questionnaire with 442 students enrolled in basic courses. The quantitative data were analyzed based on the Principal Component Analysis technique and its Varimax version, Content Analysis to analyze the qualitative data through NVIVO software. This study found that the model is potentially beneficial as it would boost learning outcomes among students. In addition, it is suggested that the staff involved in this teaching model reinforce their competencies for better mastery in order to strengthen the professional development of their students.
