Resumen
The COVID-19 pandemic has generated several impacts on the construction sector such as project delays, cost overruns, among others. However, despite its impacts, little research has focused on compiling lessons learned to mitigate the impacts on the construction sector. Therefore, this research aims to compile the main strategies taken by professionals in the construction sector to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 in the construction sector. For this, the research starts with a literature review of the impacts of COVID-19 and 110 professionals are surveyed about the impact of COVID-19 in Peruvian construction projects and the impacts are classified using RII (Relative Importance Index); based on the impacts, a literature review of mitigation strategies is carried out and six Peruvian experts are consulted about the adapted strategies, the main adapted strategies were the adoption of safety and health measures, implementation of Lean Construction. This research will be a contribution for professionals in the construction sector to the extent that they can make better decisions in the face of possible events with high variability and uncertainty such as COVID-19 that may occur in the future.
