Resumen
This document explores the integration of Virtual
Reality (VR) in engineering education, highlighting its potential
to enhance graduate attributes attainment, through innovative
learning methods, delving into the importance of STEM
knowledge and developing essential skills for future engineers.
The proposal advocates for a project-oriented approach where
students work on Capstone Projects. These projects require
collaboration and mobilization of resources, allowing students
to apply their technical knowledge in real-world contexts while
developing a range of specific skills categorized into technical
(hard skills) and interpersonal (soft skills). Results are not
conclusive about competencies attainment; preliminary results
are promising about using VR in a Capstone Project. In the
blended learning modality, competency attainment rose by
1.0% to 13.0%. In contrast, in the face-to-face modality, the
increase ranged from 1.3% to 19.8% but it needs to experiment
with more students to evaluate its impact on learning
experiences.
