Resumen

Throughout time the tectonic plates have been in constant movement, causing seismic events of great importance that left loss of human lives and economic losses mainly due to the high vulnerability of buildings. The Peruvian territory is within the Nazca plate which is prone to constant seismic events, in order to address the seismic susceptibility in buildings is aimed to incorporate the tuned mass damper in weight of 1%, 2% and 5% in buildings of 15 floors accompanied by a distance sensor to detect critical displacements, for it was used the last transcendental seismic record in Peru, occurred in the department of Ica in 2007 and the ultrasonic distance sensor HCSR04. The results showed by incorporating the 5% weight tuned mass damper, a reduction of up to 15.18% in the drifts between floors, the overturning moments decreased up to 8.20% and the shear forces were reduced up to 13.24%, all with respect to the 'Y' axis, likewise the distance sensor received the signals of the displacement of the structure providing critical values when subjected to random motion. Finally, the implementation of the damper is an efficient alternative to reduce the seismic vulnerability of buildings as structural reinforcement or rehabilitation and the ultrasonic distance sensor showed efficient operation to receive displacement signals.
