Resumen
Adobe structures are prevalent in Cusco, Peru, yet
their susceptibility to seismic activity poses significant risks. This
study addresses the critical need for a cost-effective, precise system
to monitor vibrations in these structures. Utilizing the VDI 2221
design methodology, we developed a mechatronic system
incorporating an ESP32 microcontroller and ADXL335
accelerometers. The system was rigorously tested on adobe units
and stacks, revealing crucial insights into their dynamic behavior.
Findings indicate moderate damping characteristics, essential for
assessing structural health and informing necessary
reinforcements for seismic resilience.
