Design of a Cold Bending Machine to Recover Leaf Springs from Vehicles with a Capacity of 20 Tons

Resumen

At present the momentum of the automotive industry for light and heavy cargo is growing and one of its main factors in its structure are the crossbow springs, since the springs support everything transported, that is why with the constant use of the springs it tends to lose its original curvature and at the same time its load capacity. Mechanics tend to recover their curvature manually, damaging the material by generating hardening at the points of impact and making it more brittle. Through this research, the aim is to recover the component by designing a spring bending machine that allows the original curvature to be restored and the bending process to be improved. In the design process, the conceptual design was used, consisting of identifying the need through a list of requirements, structures of functions, to generate design alternatives and atechnical and economic evaluation to later propose the first proposal of the leaf spring bending machine and the elements and systems were validated through a theoretical analysis that provides the necessary data for its optimized dimensioning and suitable materials Satisfactory results are considered for the design of the structure with a safety factor of 1.484. Likewise, it was possible to determine that 17Tn is required to bend the pier and reach plastic deformation without recovery capacity, managing to recover the curvature with 80% of useful life.
