Resumen
The main purpose of this study was to analyze the instrumental competences of university teachers in managing environmental education in higher education institutions in the State of Zulia. Research was of the descriptive type, with a cross-sectional, non-experimental, field design. The sample consisted of 328 students and teachers from the Rafael Maria Baralt and Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez Universities and the University of Zulia. The information was obtained by applying a questionnaire using a Likert-type scale with 5 response options; its reliability was calculated using the Cronbach Alpha method, obtaining a value of 0.88. For the qualitative and quantitative analysis, inferential descriptive statistics were used for both samples, concluding that there is a low level of instrumental teaching competences. Weaknesses were observed in implementing environmental management tools.
