Resumen
Introduction: Since 2018 there has been an increase in Venezuelan migration to different countries. This population generally becomes vulnerable since they have poor access to basic services including the health system. There is no record of the deaths that have occurred in this population in Peru. Objective: To evaluate the cases of mortality in Venezuelan immigrants, to know their characteristics and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Cross-sectional analytical study based on data provided by the Ministry of Health. Bivariate and multivariate analysis was performed, taking violent deaths and deaths or COVID-19 as independent variables using Poisson regression, and crude and adjusted prevalence ratios were determined. Results: A total of 403 deaths were analyzed, the main cause of death was communicable diseases (36.72 %), 24.07 % died from COVID-19 and 22.08 % from violent death. An association was found between female gender, age, and ethnicity for violent deaths. Also, an association between age and deaths from COVID-19. Conclusion: Mortality in Venezuelans residing in Peru is poorly studied, and more studies are required to investigate risk factors, mainly violent deaths that cause death in young people.
