Resumen
Currently, hedonistic consumption has been idealized as a representation of self-realization and indebtedness has been normalized through marketing and advertising, generating ambivalence in traditionally austere populations. The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between the attitude towards indebtedness and compulsive buying behavior in residents of the department of Junín in Peru. The research with a quantitative approach and a correlational level applied the non-experimental, cross-sectional descriptive correlational design. The sample consisted of 2,396 residents who were administered the Attitude Scale towards Indebtedness and the Compulsive Purchases Questionnaire. As a result, a very high (.800) and highly significant (p<.001) positive relationship was found between both variables; in the variable attitude towards indebtedness, the neutral level (48%) predominated, followed by the unfavorable level (34.3%); and in compulsive shopping behavior, the medium level prevailed (49.6%), followed by the low level with (35.1%). It is concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the attitude towards indebtedness and compulsive buying behavior, the greater the balance in attitudes towards indebtedness, the greater the balance in compulsive buying behavior of these residents.
