Resumen

People who identify as LGBTI often receive acts of violence and discrimination, the objective was to determine the association between the perception of violence according to the sex of birth and the context in which the LGBTI population lives in Peru. This is an analytical cross-sectional study, analysis of secondary data from the First Virtual Survey for LGBTI people, the generalized linear models were used to obtain the association statistics. Our results: 62 % of all participants report having suffered violence and/ or discrimination at some point in their life. There was a greater perception of discrimination in shops or leisure places (aRP: 1.87; 95 % CI: 1.83-1.93; p<0.001), public institutions (aRP: 1.63; 95 % CI: 1, 59-1.67; p<0.001), at home or with the family (aRP: 1.61; 95 % CI: 1.51-1.71; p <0.001), in the work environment (aRP: 1.10; 95 % CI: 1.07-1.12; p<0.001) and in public transport (aRP: 1.06; 95 % CI: 1.03-1.08; p<0.001), for on the contrary, there was a lower perception of discrimination in political environments (aRP: 0.96; 95 % CI: 0.94-0.99; p = 0.008) and in health services (aRP: 0.95; 95 % CI %: 0.93-0.98; p <0.001); these were adjusted for the sex of the respondent. An important percentage of perception of violence or discrimination was found, this being more common in public environments and others of daily life, therefore, it is important to raise awareness about the most appropriate measures so that these acts of violence decrease over time.
