Resumen
The trend of less durable constructions brings with it a premature degradation of the housing, affecting the durability of the infrastructures. Therefore, the objective of the present work was based on the comparative analysis of the durable performance of two materials used in the construction of two social housing complexes, in this case specifically reinforced concrete and ashlar, as characteristic elements. The study applied was of mixed approach with an experimental design and cross-sectional scope. In situ measurements were made for temperature and humidity indicators in the materials, including thermographic images, and a detailed photographic record was made of the pathologies of both facades. The first phase consisted of collecting information on both climatological data and pathologies on the exterior facades of both housing complexes, and then in the second phase, quantifying, interpreting and comparing the information previously collected. The results show that the reinforced concrete building has a better performance against the pathologies found, such as: appearance of saltpeter, cracking of walls and detachment of finishes. This shows the importance of some external factors that influence the conservation of the material, such as the presence of green spaces and vegetation, helping to prevent the appearance of pathologies in the facades. Finally, this research seeks to take interest in ashlar as a local vernacular material with which to build, improving its physical and mechanical resistance with new technologies and generating further research on it.
