Abstract

The study highlights elements on the evolution of research linked to the Internet of Things (IoT) and contributes to the dynamization of the interconnection of everyday objects with the Internet, generating a growing interest among researchers; it also reveals some existing gaps. The aim of the work is to examine the current status and research trends in Colombia around the IOT between 2011 and 2019, through a bibliometric analysis. The methodology is based on a structured exploration of literature in Scopus, using a search equation, obtaining 168 records, useful in the construction of bibliometric indicators (quantity and quality). As a result, the progressive progress in the use of the IO, specifically between 2015 and 2018, can be identified. Additionally, it relates aspects associated with quality, impact of publications, and transformations in productive and social scenarios. It highlights practical implications of the use of the IOT and its value in information management for decision making.
