Abstract
Recently, there has been a growth in the manipulation of information through different technologies. The educational sector has been no stranger to this trend, specifically at a more advanced level, such as universities. However, this growth has been counterproductive, as it has allowed more people to become interested in violating these systems to violate privacy and obtain benefits through them. Therefore, through a systematic review, this chapter aims to document all the technological trends, standards, and metrics used to prevent information security breaches in university systems. Likewise, the document’s objective is to show a structured matrix that can represent the main parts of the documentation in a general way. It is worth mentioning that different specialized search engines were used as data collection methods, ranging from 2018 to 2024. In addition, they went through filtering to obtain the most representative research, delivering. As a result, 30 selected articles. Finally, it is concluded that as more years go by, new trends appear to solve these vulnerabilities in the systems; likewise, due to the difficulty and adverse interests of evil people, these must be constantly updated.
