Abstract
Small and medium-sized companies constitute a preponderant participation in the economic activity in the world; the percentage of jobs covered by SMEs is approximately 70% according to sources such as the World Bank and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); however, some of the main problems of organizations with the characteristic of SMEs are generally found in their high financial instability and early economic liquidation or bankruptcy, especially due to the financial risks associated with their economic activity. The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the financial risks associated with SMEs, based on a descriptive type of research that addresses what is dealt with by different bibliographic references for the subsequent presentation of proposals, allowing the reduction and / or mitigation of the outstanding risks. As results, different elements that represent complications for SMEs in relation to financial risks are evident, likewise, it is concluded that managing the financial risks associated with SMEs, anticipating them, allows us to join efforts to satisfy and comply with the growth and sustainability of the organization.
