Abstract
Low production capacity caused by high set-up times, low machine availability and production waste negatively affect Peruvian metalworking companies. This problem prevents them from satisfying the sector's demand and generating higher income for the country. Therefore, this research offers a solution by applying an operational efficiency model, which combines tools from the Lean Manufacturing philosophy, such as SMED, TPM and 5s under the Kaizen methodology. The input and output variables of the model are production data, indicators, support techniques and new procedures generated. The results obtained from the model were an 8% increase in OEE, a reduction in set up time and a 21% and 20% reduction in the rate of defective products in processes, respectively. This proposed industrial solution will allow companies in the sector to be more competitive.
