Pequeñas y medianas empresas productoras de ladrillo artesanal en Oaxaca, México: Contexto de pobreza

In Mexico as of 2016, 43.6% of the population was in a situation of poverty, and in the State of Oaxaca, this percentage increased notably from 67% in 2010 to 70.4% in 2016, making Oaxaca 570 municipalities is the poorest state in the country. Among its municipalities are San Agustin Yatareni and Santa Lucia del Camino, in which there are small and medium-sized producers of artisan brick. The objective of this work is to identify the relationship that exists between these companies and poverty in the aforementioned municipalities. Using the hypothetico-deductive research method, with a correlational scope, a literature review was made as a theoretical basis. Likewise, a survey was carried out to the workers and entrepreneurs of the companies producing handcrafted brick in the municipality of Santa Lucia del Camino. In the case of the municipality of San Agustin Yatereni, a bibliographic review was carried out and the Municipal Development Plan was taken as a reference. As a result of the study, the factors associated with poverty and the main economic activity of the municipalities under investigation are correlated and it is concluded that due to the conditions of the workers and in general of the companies it is necessary to develop public policy proposals related to salary, employment, food and social security, health, among other issues that, when addressed, allow improvements in the situation of workers and their families.
