Abstract
The article deals with the study of the informal sub-market of agricultural land in the city of Lima. The theoretical framework considers the process of commodification that Peruvian society and cities go through and places submarkets under the un-derstanding of sociological concepts such as "field" and habitus. It exposes a brief state of the art of the Latin American approach and the methodological considerations of a mostly qualitative study. The case study Chacarilla del Norte in the district of Carabayllo, Lima, is addressed and makes a comparison with other formal and informal land sub-markets.
