Abstract

The purpose of the inquiry was to establish the correlation between the principal's leadership and the institutional climate in a Faculty of Engineering at a Public University in Lima. This was a quantitative, basic descriptive, non-experimental correlational study. Both the population and the sample included 50 educators from the primary and secondary levels. A survey was used as the research method to collect data, and a questionnaire was employed as the instrument—one for each variable—administered individually. The results regarding Principal Leadership indicate that out of 100% (N = 50) of the teachers surveyed, 96% (n = 48) reported that the variable was at a good level. Similarly, the results for Institutional Climate show that 96% (n = 48) of the respondents also rated the variable as good. It was demonstrated that the principal's leadership is directly related to the institutional climate; that is, Spearman’s correlation coefficient showed a positive value. At the inferential level, the significance value was less than 0.05. Therefore, we affirm that there is a correlation between principal leadership and institutional climate in a Faculty of Engineering at a Public University in Lima.
