Abstract
This study presents an integrated model that couples energy auditing with tariff optimization to reduce energy cost and CO2 emissions while maintaining reliability. It begins with a one-week audit at 15-minute resolution, structured around energy carriers, equipment and processes, and usage habits. The resulting dataset produces daily and weekly load profiles, the Energy Baseline (EnB), and Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs) with up to twelve months of historical data. Using these inputs, the model evaluates thermal electrification at 0 percent, 50 percent, and 70 percent, and optimizes low-voltage, medium-voltage, and free-market tariff options and parameters, including contracted demand, the share of peak hours (HP) and off-peak hours (HFP), and power factor and reactive energy, in order to minimize cost. Validation at the plant level confirmed reductions in cost and CO2 relative to the EnB, together with a clear improvement in Energy System Performance: the Energy Triangle rose from 47 (baseline values: Equity 38, Sustainability 40, Security 63) to 95 after electrification, with increases of plus 60, plus 50, and plus 34, respectively. These balanced gains in competitiveness, reflected in a lower cost per kilowatt-hour, environmental impact, and reliability, measured by SAIFI and SAIDI, demonstrate that the model provides a practical and data-driven pathway to prioritize tariff and electrification strategies.
