Abstract
Automation in software development has made it possible to increase the level of efficiency and quality in programming, since it optimizes processes, which in turn opens up new areas of scientific research. Therefore, the objective is to study the research trends on automation tools in software development. A bibliometric analysis based on the PRISMA-2020 statement is proposed. The scientific production on this topic has grown in recent years, highlighting 2015 and 2019 as the years with the most publications. Marshall C and Brereton P are the main references. The focus has shifted from reliability to source code management. The identification of emerging keywords such as image processing and e-learning reveals new areas, while the classification of keywords by function provides a detailed insight. This bibliometric study guides future research, informs trends, and provides guidance to the software engineering academy.
