Abstract
Lance Adams syndrome (LAS) is a rare post-anoxic encephalopathy that causes secondary myoclonus and cerebellar ataxia. We present a 35-year-old female patient with cerebral hypoxia resulting from benzodiazepine ingestion, successfully resuscitated and with consequent generalized myoclonus presentation. Neuropsychological examination with the MoCA test, Rey’s complex figure, trail making test, stroop test, set test, and Barthel’s index show alterations in processing speed, attention, visuospatial management, constructive praxis, memory, and executive functions. Thus, classical onset, semiology, electroencephalogram findings with abnormality and slowing of theta waves, are compatible with LAS.
