Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive study on the impact of integrating advanced robotics, exemplified by the optimization of LunaBot v2.3, into primary and secondary education in remote areas. The study focuses on the Ruwaytech initiative in Arequipa city Peru, where over 581 children, including a significant participation of girls, have engaged in robotics through the Fab Lab at Continental University. The project showcases the potential of robotics in enhancing educational outcomes and fostering interest in technology among young learners. The optimization of LunaBot v2.3 was developed in accordance with the VDI 2221 guideline, which provides a framework for systematic engineering design. This approach emphasized iterative design with the aim of achieving a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 9. The results indicate notable improvements in students’ cognitive development, problem-solving abilities, and technological literacy. These findings support the recommendation to expand similar initiatives to reduce educational gaps in remote communities of Peru.
