Abstract

The purpose was to evaluate an experimental design of 3 factors at 2 levels: type of warhead (conical with blunt tip and parabolic), type of fin (trapezoidal and delta), number of fins (3, 4) and their interactions for the construction of the experimental rocket UTEA 1, which has a stable flight and reaches a higher altitude. The rocket was tested on a scale of 1:5 assigning a rating from 1 to 10: 1 very bad, 5 fair, 10 very good. There was no substantial difference between the tests, but one of the tests with the conical nose cone with blunt tip, trapezoidal fin and 4 fins, went well, that is why the rocket with conical nose conical blunt tip, trapezoidal fin and 4 fins, with a rocket length of 150 cm (fuselage 120 cm and warhead 30 cm), total rocket mass 2000 g (structural mass 1475 g, propellant 410 g, payload 115 g). It was determined that the stability and vertical range of the rocket does not depend on the design of the fins, number of fins and the shape of the warhead because the stability of the rocket is related to the center of pressure and the center of gravity, but the fins act as stabilizer elements and their effectiveness depends on their size, shape, number of fins. Likewise, the increased vertical range of the rocket depends on its power and amount of propellant and not on the type of warhead, type of fins, and number of fins.
