Abstract
This article is a comprehensive approach to the educational realities of rural teachers in two of the nine sub regions of the department of Antioquia, in Colombia. The school culture is approached from the physicality of the institution, the necessary place for some of the human links. There converge the symbolic and the imaginary as evidence of what is enunciated as pedagogical professionalism in these subjects. Two emergent categories are presented, read in the narrative biographical trajectories of the teachers, carried out in the research project.
