Abstract
Currently, Investigative skills in higher education teachers are necessary to form a critical and purposeful sense in students towards their reality and generate a favorable attitude towards scientific research, aspects that characterize teaching performance in current contexts. The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between investigative skills and teaching performance in teachers from public higher education centers in the department of Junín in Peru. The study with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental, cross-correlational design had as a sample 87 teachers to whom the Investigative Competences Questionnaire and the Teacher Performance Questionnaire were applied. The results found a medium-level positive correlation (Kendall’s Tau-b =.669) and a significant relationship (p-value = <.001) between both variables; Likewise, an outstanding level of achievement was determined in investigative skills (54.2%) and a satisfactory level of teaching performance (40.7%). It was concluded that there is a positive relationship between investigative skills and teaching performance in the sample; the greater investigative competence, the better teaching performance.
