Abstract
Energy pollution is a problem that became even more evident during the pandemic, so studying natural lighting is essential in the efficient use of renewable energy. Due to this, the objective of this research focuses on determining the viability of taking advantage of natural light to achieve lighting comfort inside an existing home based on virtual simulation. The methodology used has a quantitative approach, with a descriptive explanatory scope developed under the non-experimental method. The data analysis was under the use of a lux meter and for the virtual simulation we worked with the Velux Daylight software to determine the improvement criteria in an architectural proposal, which allows comparison with the national and international parameters established. different standards regarding natural light lux in homes. The results showed that the strategic increase in window area increases natural lighting by 30%. Therefore, this study concludes that it is not only about increasing the size of the openings, but also the possibility of reducing energy costs from a study of the sun and a strategic increase in lighting that depends on the activities inside the building. housing and allows the controlled use of electrical energy with the use of natural light in the space.
