Abstract

In the construction industry, project planning is commonly developed through the Critical Path Method (CPM); however, this technique is not adapted to repetitive projects such as pipeline installation, power line installations, roads, tunnels, among others. In view of this, the Balance Line Method or flow line is a technique that brings many benefits for this type of projects, such as: maximizing learning and making progress predictable. Despite having much success and time of application in the construction sector, its implementation in projects in Latin America is still limited. That is why the following article aims to show the application of flow lines in a sanitary project in Peru during 13 weeks. The implementation is divided into two stages; the first one comprises the first 06 weeks. Then, continuous improvement and work sampling are implemented to improve the flow of activities and reduce the duration of task execution. As a result, the construction process is optimized, reducing the project execution time by one week and also the cost of the activity. Finally, the following work will contribute to the theory of flow lines for both planning and control of activities in repetitive projects in Latin America.
