Abstract
The present descriptive-formulatory study has shown that rural territories that are occupied by the advance of urbanization generated conflicts between activities and caused severe transformations in a territory, using as a case study the district of Cerro Colorado, Arequipa. This district is characterized precisely by being an intermediate strip between urban and rural areas, defined as the peri-urban interface (IPU), also recognized as the boundary between the city and the periphery. The research used anthropogeography as a deductive and inductive method to explain the phenomenon of coexistence between the rural and the urban. It concludes that agriculture is a current resource and generates differentiated spatial configurations, due to its fabric, social, and, above all, economic development, reconforming new rurality that persists in its urban position, especially in Latin American cities that have agrarian spaces in their territories.
