An anthropologist from the Universidad San Antonio Abad del Cusco, with a master's degree in Humanities from the Ludovician University of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany (with a scholarship from the KAAD). Doctor (PhD) in Anthropology and Political Science from the same university, with a thesis entitled "Discourses and Rationalities in the Negotiations Surrounding the Camisea Gas in the Peruvian Amazon." He completed his thesis cum laude (with a scholarship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation). He also held a research stay at the American University in Washington, D.C., USA. He is also a Research Associate at the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute for Cultural Studies at the University of Freiburg; he is a lecturer and has experience in university teaching. He is an advisor and consultant specializing in international cooperation and sustainable development, and is also a manager of the Climate Alliance between the Municipality of Freiburg and the Municipality of La Convención Province, Cusco. Currently a professor and director of Intercultural Affairs at the National Intercultural University of Quillabamba. His areas of work include indigenous rights, neo-extractivism, the Amazon, sustainable development, international cooperation, and intercultural affairs.
